SE10’s Chicago team took home top honors at the Chicago Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) annual award ceremony on June 10.
The team won the Skyline Award in the press conference category for their work helping Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) host an impressive media event to showcase the company’s new Customer Center at its North American headquarters in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
The occasion attracted three congressmen, one ambassador and 1,000 guests. It also garnered coverage online in eight international publications, including International Construction and Rental Equipment Register, as well as three local print publications – The Sentinel, the Herald-Mail and Public Opinion – and five other local online news portals. The event was also broadcast twice on ABC27 WHTM, the local affiliate of ABC News in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
“We are pleased to be given this prestigious award and grateful to have great clients such as Volvo Construction Equipment to work with,” said Randolph Pitzer, who runs SE10's US office.
The Chicago team spent three-months planning the event and worked with Volvo CE to determine appropriate messages for different audiences – press, local community, politicians, Volvo CE dealers and, of course, Volvo CE employees.
SE10 was responsible for project managing the press conference, creating the invitations, press kits, organizing the press dinner and the guests’ transportation, lodging and event setup. SE10 also designed the look and feel for the event and designed collateral, including invitations, banners, press release and PowerPoint templates, along with event signage.
The team also helped set up an interview between Volvo CE Americas President Göran Lindgren and Central Penn Business Journal, the region's leading business journal. The journal ran an announcement story the day of the event and a more in-depth piece later that week, providing Volvo CE the opportunity to present its story to local businesses and leaders.
