Three congressmen, one ambassador and 1,000 guests at Volvo's Customer Center openingCreated: 03 July 14
Client Volvo Construction Equipment recently completed a new Customer Center at its North American headquarters in Shippensburg, PA, as part of a multi-year, $100 million investment in North America. No ordinary ribbon-cutting ceremony, SE10 helped Volvo CE take full advantage of the event, raising awareness of the company’s role in regional investment, legislation and the local community. The event attracted more than 1,000 attendees, including three congressmen, one state senator, a state representative and an ambassador, as well as members of the trade press and local community.
First and foremost SE10 helped Volvo CE highlight its continued commitment to North America – also a key focus for SE10 earlier this year at the CONEXPO exhibition in Las Vegas. SE10 created a fact sheet loaded with data on Volvo CE’s investments in the area and partnered with Volvo Group’s Public Affairs department to invite politicians, who are deeply involved in the economic development of the area, to speak at the event.
SE10 also created a press release and presentation that highlighted the potential new jobs and economic impact the new Customer Center could bring to the Shippensburg area. Volvo CE is a strong believer of corporate social responsibility at a global and local community level.
Furthermore, SE10 leveraged America’s growing interest in its aging infrastructure and partnered with Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) to showcase Volvo CE’s support of a proposed bill that would provide government funding to update America’s deficient roads and bridges. AEM made Volvo CE a stop on its I Make America, which aims to raise awareness of the legislation. AEM said it collected the most sign-ups for its I Make America campaign to date at Volvo CE.
Local news, international coverage
The Customer Center inauguration was featured online in eight international publications, including International Construction and Rental Equipment Register, as well as three local print publications – The Sentinel, the Herald-Mail and Public Opinion – and five other local online news portals. The event was also broadcast twice on ABC27 WHTM, the local affiliate of ABC News, at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on the day of the event.
While at the event, SE10 also set up an exclusive interview with the President of Volvo CE, Region Americas, Göran Lindgren and the region’s leading business journal Central Penn Business Journal, which ran an announcement story the day of the event and a more in-depth piece in Q&A format later in the week. This gave Volvo CE the opportunity to present its story to local businesses and leaders.
